We're all busy working, I think is the answer. Like you I'm working away furiously trying to get the MVP out the door so we can start doing some testing. While I'm very positive about HN, I feel that in some ways attending stuff like HN mee

I've just finished co-writing my first book too, but with a publisher who hasn't helped out as much with the editing phase. This part sucks, and would be the main detractor for the go-it-yourself route (imho). If you're self-publishing you'

Ah yes, the famed NZ man drought. My girlfriend's also Kiwi, but like a lot of Kiwi's we'll be looking to return to Australia for a while after Europe. Better weather and more to do. Our homeland seems to be the place to return to raise the

I spotted one site I know very well (I used to maintain it), which was the distinctive Xero.com homepage and sub pages. I don't think it was copy and pasting, but "inspiration" ... This is how most designers work, I think.

How about we ask the audience? There must be at least one South American on HN willing to comment.

I've loved 2 wonderful women over the last 9 years since high school, but missed out on ever being single and all that entails (one night stands, etc). I just hope that doesn't haunt me when I'm middle aged.

I suspect WikiLeaks would have a plan in place if Assange was removed. WikiLeaks should live on and continue to do it's work.

At least they weren't as transparent to go straight to "nazi" or "pedophile". These sorts of accusations seem to stick around, even if the case is dropped.

Try jumping from a 747 next time you're flying. The thing that kills you is the ground, which is an obvious enough statement, but overlooked I think. If you're flying at any reasonable altitude you've got a reasonable chance of gliding, rec

I really do not understand the uproar about this? Who gives a shit? What's the insinuation: that the whole thing is make believe and they're just sitting around twiddling their thumbs?

I'm a New Zealander working in London and there are far more opportunities here than elsewhere in the world (bar the US). I've managed to find funding here for my startup, something that I sincerely doubt I would have found south of the equ

Double BR's, DIVs used as containing elements... ugh. I was expecting better from Google. The problem of all RTE remains: their HTML is fucking ugly.

What I find very interesting is the rise in occurrences of this behaviour after the media announcement. Is this an example of some sort of mass hysteria or did everyone just blame the car for any small thing? Or were they looking for legal

Well, it's obvious that people are making money off of screencasting. If you're referring people to them so they can make sales then you should be taking a cut of that. Offer a 'featured screencast of the day' which takes prominent place on

The more interesting question is does a site's individual policies apply? Does scraping a site constitute acceptance of the site's terms if no compliance is sought before it's use? Surely Google would be violating millions of such policies.

I've had good results with the 5x5 programme. It's a good manly thing to do, not as boring as hours on a bike, and is quick to perform (I can get in an out of the gym in 45 minutes).

I try a different city/country every couple of years. New Zealand, England, Australia is next on the list. You can probably get a work visa for all of these places relatively easily.

I'd hate to call this "HTML5" - the only HTML 5 feature it utilises is the Canvas element, which is a pretty dumb bitmap rendering surface. It could have been rendered with other technologies, but not as efficiently perhaps.

It's good to note that Wellington is probably the best connected city in New Zealand. There is fibre around the Wellington CBD, and it extends outwards to some residential. There's also a cable TV offering. The rest of the country has to pu
