Before the bump in the move-out offer minimum, they could have done an Ellis Act eviction if they wanted to recover for their own use while paying you the minimum possible. (Actually, Ellis Act is one of the only eviction types allowed righ

You can't even evict people right now due to the emergency regulations. I wonder why the landlords are even bothering right now? Wait until after, evict for non-payment (one of the only easy ways to evict), then either try to collect o

The vast majority of the population will never fly in a leaded gas powered plane, so I'd think the harm is much more than the gain. Said in another way, it probably wouldn't take much convincing to get a proposition passed to ban

It doesn't seem like you're addressing the pollution/health effects to the population caused by burning leaded gas and the relative harm of that versus the benefit of keeping the existing fleet flying. Is that because the pol

The police misuse of force and deadly force and police brutality are unfortunately topics that all races can engage with[0]. It is not clear to me that insisting racism is creating a coalition that will change the system. [0] https:/&

While I can understand the presumption that fees will rise to make it profitable to move transactions, is there any simple market mechanism for making sure transactions move safely? A slow continuous drop in hash rate could result in the ne

I believe you consider phone numbers pseudo-anonymous identifiers, which I believe Matrix names also qualify as. Is there any technical reason why Matrix servers would have to store contact lists? Both Signal and Matrix would have store mes

If we have more diversity in the kind of places where people can live, I suppose that we would have more people finding the place they want to live. Other people replying to you in this thread seem to think people can live where they live r

We're not even close to the problem of not having any work to do. Let's limit the work week to 4 days, or give one week off every 5.

Indeed, that is stated in the article. Do you have any specific concerns with their methodology that would cause the results to have an even larger error range than they account for?

The recent study in Santa Clara County suggests it may be between 0.12 and 0.20 though it suggests only a couple percent have had it there: https://www.sfgate.com/news/editorspicks/article/Santa-Clara...

This doesn't sound hard to achieve in a bipartisan manner. Why didn't this get created with the Affordable Care Act? This also seems much more in line with traditional insurance (big, occasional claims) and would probably be easie

This is also a reason to eat meat from animals fed food for people. In the bad times, slaughter the animals and eat the meat and the feed. It's changed my perspective on efficiency. There are some forms of inefficiency that can provide

A friend of mine worked for the stage hand's union. It seemed as if it already worked like Uber. Of course in this case Uber was owned by the drivers, not a founder and investors. What's the rude awakening that I should expect?

I cannot tell if you are intentionally misreading my statement. If you are not, what I meant is that the union would be removed.

Unions reinforce the concept of class conflict/struggle/warfare due to strict categorization. The laws seem to be set up in a way to encourage this "us versus them" mentality. [0] https://www.nolo.com/leg

You say 100 trees per acre, but Afforestt says 100 trees per 30 sq meters (0.0074 acre)[0][1]! (This is equivalent to 121,000 per acre.) A mature forest may only need 100 trees per acre, but it may take a much larger density to get it start
