For such products, there's the per seat license and the per device license. Depending on volume and vendor pricing model more of the cost will either be in the seat or device license. The value of these the seat license is so that you

This suggests an advantage to purposeful infection by oral/eye rather than accidental by intranasal. It'll be interesting to see what the case fatality rate is when segmented by infection route.

Interesting. The graphs on that website do not agree with the ones on Wikipedia. For example, for coal in 2016 Wikipedia says ~220 TWh but Strom says ~135 TWh. EDIT: I see my mistake. I did not add both brown (~135 TWh) and black coal (~100

The graph shows 36% coal and 13% natural gas for 2016, meaning coal and gas for 2016 is 49%. There is the question of what this would look like if they didn't shut off their nuclear plants. It's my expectation that the nuclear wou

It's my experience that monitors, routers, speakers, and other devices often have non-standardized connectors. At the very least there are many different barrel connectors with different sizes, voltages, and amperages.

I believe it is the customer who will pay the fine. The manufacturers may have a different number of sales due to the higher price that the customer will have to pay.

Maybe it doesn't matter to most people anymore, but these ports are for more than charging. This regulation could stifle using this port for other features. That said, it's pretty obvious where everything is going (wireless), so i

Just to give an example: a 30 year mortgage for $300,000 at 4% is about $1400 per month where a 30 year mortgage for $100,000 at 17% is about $1400 per month. That can explain a 3x multiplier in the home price to income ratio assuming that

This line of thinking ("we can tax you however we like") is backdrop of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. In the book, the creatives/creators go on strike rather than suffer the taxes. Whatever you believe about the reality of

I could not find positive confirmstion that Berkeley, CA recycles the cardboard, but a the city's related buyback center does buy cardboard by the pound indicating that it is possible.

There is a plastic cap and a plastic bag inside this cardboard bottle, of course. If I purchase these I make sure to separate the cardboard so it can be recycled but I believe many places the cap/bag will not be recycled.

I believe the poster you are replying to is referring to number of hours worked. Are you referring to when the hours are worked? There's a difference between 100 hours one month and 20 hours another month versus 8 hour block per day an

Based on your summary, the comment you're replying to would be a better solution as there wouldn't be a perverse incentive. Do you think a replacement of rent control with such a policy could happen?

I think this is a systems engineering problem that may have been due to siloed hardware and software engineering teams. The hardware engineers knew they were making something inherently unstable that the software would have to compensate fo

I always thought the benefit of online dating is to avoid the need to muck up friendship activities with finding a partner. Like, don't people not want to be propositioned just because they like f.e. table tennis?

I think this calculation is better than you'd expect using air to air heat pumps. Their coefficient of performance can be between 2-5, meaning for each 1W of electricity, 2-5W heating is produced.

In my experience this would be air heating and not air cooling because the air temperature is higher than the skin temperature, unless you're already sweating and being evaporatively cooled from that.

Point well taken. There are multiple dimensions to manufacturing efficiency, though, right? I have no appreciation for the cost of a couple dies and a machine for stamping versus the cost of a CNC break with one die, but it may play a part

1 square mile is 640 acres. At 8 acres per year, this is 80 years to get back to the beginning! I would have expected that commercial logging is much faster because 8 acres is not much!
