That right there is text-book Ad Hominem fallacy! It is totally valid to point out failures in something without knowing how to put them right, or being in a position to do so.

Totally agree with all of that! I’m nearly fifty and got diagnosed with ADHD about five years ago. I got expelled from school at 15 for just never showing up. Despite being one of the smartest kids in school, I would do so well I a new clas

I would have said that previously…. I’ve got three of the ‘old’ base 4K models. And they are constantly running out of space! They never used to. But now they do. OS updates are to blame maybe. I’ve deleted as much as I can, and just have m

Totally unfashionable answer: I use 'Rails 6.x and datatables.net. The system manages call-logs for a call centre with WFH staff. It's doing thousands of calls a day. The tables are 'endless' pagination reporting tables.

Yep - TBF, I have no idea really. I just see what I see on the news out of the US with headlines such as: "Student arrested in Texas after walking to school with assault rifle just one day after tragic Uvalde shooting" So it'

Even if the 10,000 hours to be an “expert” is valid, you don’t need to be an expert to be successful. You don’t need other people to validate your choices or your define your level of expertise or success.

On a tangent and not really related, but I noticed the port of the ATV screensaver Aerial for Windows would tax my PC somewhat and cause the fans to spin up :-) I think it did on the Mac too - but don’t quote me…

Totally, but I specifically meant the RJ45 connector itself! WRT other technologies, we've updated USB and Thunderbolt to use the compact USB-C connector standard. We've updated display connectors many times over the years! And ye

Why do we still have the RJ45 connectors at all? We've transitioned other technologies. Is the industry so focused on WiFi that they are just hoping it will go away for end user devices? Surely even if the data-centre a compact alterna

My experience with Google Calendar, iCal and Outlook is that they do default to the meeting creators TimeZone. Which is often what we want! So on that regard, I find calendar invites rather than a causal email invite to be essential.

by firecall 4y ago
This is why I insist on calendar invites for all my meetings! People easily forget that others in a meeting loop are in different time zones. Not so bad in parts Europe or the UK, but for those of us in countries with multiple TZs like the
