The unfortunate part of this is that in a world where manufacturers compete independently on chargers, I think it will be a race to the bottom. Even apple users may accept the drastically lower cost of a $10 charger vs. Apple's. I expe

The problem is if they have the space for a USB-A plug, realize that tons of NEW consumer devices still use that! Apple can convince its customer base to buy dongles, but will all Windows PC users be happy with that?

Having a tipline isn't so bad on its own, but then the problem becomes: User leaves unverifiable tip, what do you do with it? It's not like you can break the encryption...

konnected.io looks fascinating. It seems to focus on wired systems, but I believe the system I own is just an "old" wireless system. I'll look for something similar for wireless systems. At least what I want seems possible!

I was literally going to call them today to monitor my house's pre-existing ADT (DSC I think?) system out of practicality. Now, I'm not so sure. Edit I wonder what modern solutions exist in this space for takeover of old systems

In the US creditors have liquidation preference in bankruptcy. You give that up if you convert to shares but gain some measure of control if the company is still solvent. It's a tradeoff I'm guessing. It's possible they have

His statement about bigcos doesn't really jibe with mine. Bigcos are just as concerned with opportunity cost as startups, at least if they're concerned about earnings at all or are run well. You will not have headcount to attack a

I had to spend some time searching myself. I used to use Comodo's free certs back when they were still called Comodo. All these changes seem to have made things difficult.

Some people would balk at the idea since they have bad credit and no bank account, and hence have to fork over a fee to walmart/publix/your local check cashing place in order to make it liquid. Cash works for everyone. I agree, ca

I purposefully ignore certificates when looking at CVs. Once upon a time, I actually looked at them prejudicially, because the kinds of candidates I saw with certificates were generally inferior and couldn't code their way out of a pap

Turns out this was an issue with Firefox's automatic certificate selection logic. I changed it to ask me every time instead of automatically selecting certs, and once it saves my selection it's back to normal. I'm not sure ho
