Not really on any scale. Mostly the liquidity crunch is slowing down or shuttering business activity. There is new cash being produced, it's just not enough and not circulating.

I think schadenfreude and Utopian promises (especially from a leader they already support) have a strong grip on people. At this point though the pro-demonetization rhetoric in India is running out of steam. First it was going to be a '

My take on this is that, besides Twitter's general product stasis, the reason they've been conflicted on this is that the experience for new users and power users is completely different. For a new user, any response is great and

I was amused by this HN comment saying that React is a tax Facebook imposes on startups https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12217170 I do think there's a kernel of truth to it--issues raised in this article and framew

What's interesting is that Bollywood stars whose names were in the Panama Papers are lauding this 'demonitisation' move... it kinda underscores that real 'black money' isn't stuffed in mattresses, it's sto

Sometimes you want the richer resources though if you're on a better connection or the resources are cached rather than this being the first page load. In my view we definitely need a "lazyload" attribute for script, link, an

This kinda happened in 2007... hence Words With Friends, FarmVille, etc. In retrospect it seems bizarre that random developers were able to publish updates with our own icons to the main Newsfeed.

Yeah I agree. I'm not against the idea of the user staying on the same page to get more content, but for example when you click a tweet on the web to expand it and see replies, I would have designed e.g. a pane that 'slides in

It's a definite balance though, is my point. You have to make these determinations all the time while making consumer-facing software. For example, I'm making a 'Newsfeed for Twitter' right now (top tweets people you fol

It's a tough balance. I guess the right way to is to have UI metaphors that minimize extra controls from scratch (i.e. if you remove 'save as' find a way to remove files as a metaphor; you can just have automatic save, undo,

You can include MIT & BSD libraries in a GPL-licensed app but you can't include the resulting GPL work back into an e.g. BSD-licensed app. Same as you can include jQuery in a proprietary app which has its own license.

It's more about distribution. So if you make some changes and keep it on your server you don't have to show the code to everyone, but if you release a plugin for third parties to download, then everyone who gets the download shoul
