Sounds easier than winning the Loebner Prize, and yet there is more cash on offer. I just hope the winning entry will prompt the developers to remove that stupid filter[1] that prevents you from referring to the Halting Problem in question

About 6 years ago I was interviewed for a position that was (mostly) C++ coding. I told them I had been coding in C++ for four years. They said "So what level are you, Expert or Guru?" I thought it was a trick question, and replied that any

And lobsters. And mussels. And locusts, squid, termites, beetles, worms, spiders... no shortage of nutritious meat sources, many of which taste better than the average mammal, just that we "westerners" aren't accustomed to eating them. E

I'm not sure whether this is a good or bad thing, but most sites (including HN) with partially-automated moderation systems make the same assumption: *You only need one "karma" variable, for both posting and moderation*. That is, use

I find backspace works just as well and can be remapped in Vim itself (unlike caps lock which must be remapped in the driver, affecting all apps.)

No it is not perfectly justified to break the speed limit if you are going to visit a dying relative. That's ridiculous. Think about it. If I was going to visit a dying relative (who you have never met) would you be happy for me to d

#1 is not true. Algorithms like bcrypt rely on being so expensive to compute that brute-forcing is prohibitively expensive. bcrypt does use salt. If it did not then it would indeed be vulnerable to rainbow table attacks.

Depends whether the two 32-bit hashes are correlated with each other. If there is no correlation then a pair of 32-bit hashes is no more likely to collide than a single 64-bit hash. But this is difficult to achieve, and you should not ass
