I agree about with you about a replacement for redis. Maybe it's only me, but I seem to be relying too much on redis for simple things. I feel that soon enough I'll need 4 independent redis servers for my production environment. T

It sounds like it provides a nice s3 cache system for your backend. That is, it matches every s3 call to be a simple drop in request replacement powered by redis for caching. Disclaimer: I'm tired and may have read it wrong.

This has a lot to do with Rob Pike's programming style, as you can see from the plan 9 source: https://github.com/cao-xx/plan-9/blob/master/sys/src/librege...

Absolutely yes! Nobody here can tell you what is good and what sucks. Your experience must not be based off a few HN comments. You must learn the facts, and then draw conclusions. Even if you're not into Java programming, a weekend or

Considering Go is slower than C, and the JVM is written in C/C++, I'd say the JVM would be slower. I'm not trying to say I wouldn't like to see it, but I don't think anyone would use it, is all. And it's sad wh

It's not so common because: - It requires a running JVM to compile it all down (not a bad thing). - Can take upwards of a second to compile depending on code base size and compression setting (even if the JVM is warm). - Kills all abil

I think the "You use this app if you have 5 minutes to kill" is a genius marketing strategy and highly suggest you use this on the website.. it would add a lot of clarity.

I think it will just become easier to hash out ideas with html5 apps, but I don't think there will ever be a point where we can do 100% html5. I mean, obviously if you're doing game dev, or require other system intensive tasks, y

Real quick: I wrote a little json-in-json-out app for working on webapps before the backend is done (first node (express)). Then, later rewrote it in clojure (compojure). They're both on heroku and perform about the same. This is by no

One killer feature would be to have a direct download link to each package. Installing outside the package manager isn't something you should do, but I've had to a few times (making netcat happy, etc).

Exactly! The 5C wan not about making a new phone, it was about cutting costs of the old 5 so they could hit their market goal of $99 with 2/yr contract.

This is really cool, and I'm disappointed there's so much hate going on in here. I agree with points that there is a distribution challenge, but I think if Arc can get small enough, it'll be like SilverLight or Flash. This co

So the instrument panel contains essentials, but lacks company specific procedures. For example: Each airline has a different 'start up' procedures for their planes, even the planes they all have, like the 737. It also lacks the t
