Filip here, the person from the video. Unfortunately, the best sources about "old school" NLG are physical books. I really liked Building Natural Language Generation Systems as a start. Newer NLG tries to merge ML and the old appr

It was my go-to game for a while. It was funny, because I bought this high end gaming laptop with real-time raytracing support and whatnot and then used it to play a game that is literally just text and some ASCII art in a terminal-like win

Author of the game here. I don't mention it in the article or the video, but AI Dungeon is exactly what I didn't set out to do. GPT-2/3-based games are cool, but they have no ground truth.

Hi, I'm the author. One of the coolest things I learned after releasing the game was that it's played by folks with visual impairment. It's "playable with issues" (meaning I have work to do), but playable nonetheles

I often stay late trying to fix a bug or solve some problem, and I'm furious when someone distracts me. Meanwhile, when I do _anything else_ that's as frustrating, I _love_ distractions to a fault.

Thank you! I've been thinking about this problem for years, and had several ideas in that time. But the complexity always grew out of proportion as I started adding "features" to the notation and the tool. In the end, I'

Thank you! I already have a CLI tool and a library, but I'd like to make it a bit less hairy before releasing. I also want to build an iOS / Android app. But I wanted to release a web app first because that has by far the lowest b

We get this a lot. To the point that my colleague wrote this: https://hackernoon.com/why-flutter-uses-dart-dd635a054ebf It's not easy to explain in a HN comment. Technical decisions like these never are. In this partic

Disclaimer: I work in the Flutter team, and by extension on the Dart team at Google. We all see the knee jerk reactions to Dart. Yet, most people who _actually_ try it tend to like it a lot. We've run actual studies and something like

Just a note: one of Flutter's differentiators is that renders every pixel, straight to OpenGL / Vulkan. It doesn't do cross-platform the way RN or Xamarin does it. It's more like Unity. Since most featured mobile apps no

Thanks! Yes, there is a low traffic mailing list. On mobile so can't share the link but if you open the game again and click the Info button, it's there.

I love King of Dragon Pass! It was definitely an inspiration (although I found out about it only after I set out to build this whole thing) and at one point I wanted my game to be basically a king/lineage simulator with options to &quo

Thanks! Author here. I think quite a few videogames have different levels. For example, I remember an old 1990s game called Wargasm where you could both be the general and the soldier. It was a lot of fun. Most videogames don't go ther

Curious: what do you expect as keyboard controls. I've had this on my TODO list for ages and I have my own idea of what they should be, but I'd love to capture the expectations first, so that I don't break them.
