The finance department in a previous job rather undramatically moved over to Google Sheets from Excel after seeing the befits of the collaboration/online environment. They got some help by me for moving out the heavy stuff to SQL/

Google Sheets worked fine for me. The UI is intuitive and stripped down. And it has much better networking/collaboration support compared to Microsoft that has it bolted on.

Probably. Military service in Sweden in the 90s did not mean you had to worry about going to Iraq or Afghanistan. As I mentioned I was also a platoon leader so I guess I had som more freedom. But some weeks we had to go on without much slee

Right! Should have been in my comment. I think an important part of it is that is made me stop worrying. Sleep will come to me eventually and meanwhile my body will continue working. Maybe my brain does not work optimally, but well enough.

I did my military service (25 years ago). After that I rarely wait more than 3 minutes to fall asleep. Not many books get read that way unfortunately, I used to read a lot before that. These days I do wake up at weird hours though, not sure

Edges are cool. But they do have a dark side, often forgotten when talked about in public. I have once been on the edge of chaos for too long and eventually when it flipped over it took years to recover. Possibly even decades. Or possibly a

Thanks. Must be the Gulf stream and general seaside climate. We have it better than we deserve. But only 20000 years ago Sweden was covered in 3km of ice.

Att 55 degrees latitude is is comparably pretty far south in Scandinavian terms, like Denmark. And we do grow crops in Sweden. Inland climate in Canada and (for Scandinavia) the Gulf Stream could make the difference. Although I imagine the

My 5c. Algorithmically it is optimal, many corner cases thought of to make as few loops as possible. But it is suboptimal in the sense that it uses for loops so it is not possible for an underlying engine to execute in parallel, or to optim

Working extensively in SQL for a while also gives you another perspective of programming. There is just no way you can write this with a for loop in SQL since it does not (generally) have for loops. WITH all_numbers AS ( SELECT

IIRC the limiting factor for late Intel Macs was cooling. It would frequently throttle the CPU down to 20% to cool it down. And even if the numbers are great on a sunny day (or rather a cool day, to fix this I would have to sit with it in a

I imagine that if you can colonize other planets you can also target them with nuclear weapons. It is like saying that the solution to all problems is colonizing Antarctica.
