Well that's a complete lie. I know plenty of people in Maseratis, high end BMW, mercedes, and Audis, amongst others. Only one of them has body guards, and none of them have ever been mugged, kidnapped, etc (or even know someone who has

I see less and less people using it though (I've long since uninstalled) at least for my generation (30s). Unless it's still very very in with the younger crowd, I don't think it will do well long term.

I would guess in absolute terms it must be dreaded by a lot of people simply because of it's extremely large user base. Any product is bound to rub someone the wrong way.

I wish they've would have gone with Firefox's Quantum, in order to try and at least balance out web market shares. MSFT no longer has any leverage in the web, so trying to keep it fair and accessible (no browser monopolies) should

It is an essential skill for our job though, being able to dive into a new code base, form a mental model of it, and modify it either because of new feature requirements or simply bug fixing. And it is a skill, I also had a lot of trouble w

You could have read the source to the processor of one of the many open source SQL databases though (off the top of my head: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Derby, H2, HSQLDB). Many of them have very clean code, SQLite would be my choice if you

Seriously, a MCAS indicator light (if MCAS is actively issuing commands), a big red button below it called "Disable MCAS" , and a MCAS disabled light (so pilots actually remember when it is disabled) should be more than enough to

Layman question here: Are there real scenarios where you want to have both control surfaces opposing each other so heavily? Are there real cases for having the trim trying to pitch the plane down while the pilot is trying to pitch up with t

This means that Boeing is now 100% liable for the crash, as there was nothing the airline could've done in this scenario. It also means that the aircraft will have to be re-designed and re-classified before it ever flies again (it'

I thought all jets had to be capable of performing non powered glides (as in no electrical power, not just engine power). I guess that's no longer a requirement.

It's true there were aggravating factors, like the inability to manually rectify trim, which (would seem to me) would be a aerodynamic or design issue. The point still stands, the root cause was MCAS, without it this would never have h

So MCAS put them in a hard to recover position which required electric trim to recover, and as soon as they turned on the electric trim MCAS turned on again and forced them into a crash? Then this is much worse than initially suggested, it
