That's why I was wondering. For companies that need to scale, a high false negative rate is inherently costly. But, if you only need to hire a small number of people that may be a cost you're willing to eat.

"Generally speaking, I can tell within 5 minutes who is a great candidate." How do you validate that this is true?

Alternatively, capping the number of network requests would be valuable.

What is the advantage of this over something like MaxMind or NetAcuity? Thanks!

I'm curious how many people use Intercom just for the chat function. When I've used it, it has primarily been for the customer lifecycle management portion of the product. That is, the ability to send user level data into Intercom

That's mostly a choice for high income earners, and much of that discretionary spend costs similar amounts no matter where you live. Vacation costs, Amazon splurges, etc, don't change between Akron and SF.

I live in SF, I understand the cost of real estate. I'm not arguing that lifestyle expectations are very different between cities. So given you move to SF and understand you'll be in a smaller house because that is the market norm

Those calculators are ridiculous because they assume you spend your entire income. The cost of living adjustment only applies to what you spend when evaluating which salary:city combination is ideal for you.

It's only like doubling your salary if you spend your entire income. When you move to a new area, the change in disposable income is determined by salary - expenses*cost of living. Example You make $100k in city A and spend $40k on exp

It's an hour door-to-door from Menlo Park/Palo Alto to SOMA using Caltrain. People do that every single day. So a 1 hour door to door commute that extends the radius to 100 miles would be phenomenal in terms of opening up supply.

I'm not a big fan of blanket advice like that. The best sign up flow is the one you test for your specific product. "Collect credit card information ASAP" is a meme that works sometimes, but sometimes doesn't. Best of lu

Bay Area (Between SF and SJC): - Mass transit is awful. This doesn't have to be the way but because of nimbyism and politics it is. Electrify caltrain? Extend BART? Improve service levels? Queue years of arguments... - If a public good

1 - It's not really about the volume of impressions, but about typical attribution windows. Banner ads typically aren't measured on 1 day click attribution. In more DR oriented workflows the impression logs will be ingested into M

Typical pareto rule I've found. It'd be closer to 99% if all of their supply was sold into the exchanges, but most sites have a much more complicated waterfall to clear out their supply such that the premium inventory gets direct

At a modest $200/hr, that's 85 hours. It definitely can be hard to line up that much work month after month, but I've had a few months in a row where I achieved that level of consulting revenue. The key is to keep raising you

My experience is that VPE takes on more of the day to day management stuff and CTO takes on figuring out how to apply technology to solve business problems. OP sounds like they want a VPE to work alongside.
