I remember having a brief conversation with Felsenstein at some trade show. I asked, "what kind of bus does the Osborne use?" to which he replied only: "Analog!"

Does this suggest a serious danger to any hypothetical interstellar ship? If the density of such kilometer-scale objects is such that disk of our solar system intercepts them by the dozen, there is one fuck of a lot more solid matter drifti

Umm... it shows no fires at all. (Edit: tried in both Chrome and Firefox.) In fact the Kincade fire is actively burning and only a few percent contained while 180,000 residents of Sonoma County have been ordered to evacuate. https:/&#

I've got Luminar 3 on a 27in Retina iMac and it performs adequately. Some of its "AI" filters are quite impressive. The Sky filter, for example, really finds the sky, and only the sky, in a picture and changes it. To get the

45 pages in before I saw the first comment. whoever wrote section 8, "what may be a simulation or game for billiards or pool", put actual one-line descriptions before each section. Later on he gets real chatty, e.g. fsin: 02

Yeah, no. I've handled parts of Whirlwind[1], a vacuum tube machine from just post-WWII, and the gap from that to a C-64 or any other circa-1980 machine is just too great. They were using discrete wiring, resistors and wires soldered t

College baseball has that character. While the student-athletes are good, maybe AAA-league good, they are not as perfect as the pros. You never know when a pitcher will suddenly lose the zone, or a routine double-play will turn into a two-b
