One of the earliest advocates in this game was Mr. Money Moustache[1] who spelled out the arithmetic of "save half what you earn until you can live on your savings" back in 2011 or so. Very entertaining writer in the contrarian vein.

- emit_time 7y agoI find reading his blog helpful in that it gives me a new perspective on things. E.g. putting a dollar amount risk on buying a "safer" car and things like that. I highly recommend reading his blog to many people, in that I think it will help you think a bit differently. One of my favorite blog posts[0] is about how happiness is the only logical pursuit.
