In my opinion, the main point is that "quality" is highly subjective. High definition may not matter most to some users, at least not compared to acting, direction and photography of the movie. Also I believe the customers of phys

EA seems just a modern rebranding of old ideas which this time around appeals to wealthy individuals because it doesn't challenge their wealth

Effective altruism is just nonsense. Giving money "away" is so vague that it's obviously tax discounts. Away to whom? Will give money blindly really help solving problems or keeps them alive? A lot of questions pop up.

Depends of the definition of "fair". To me, giving away infinite free tickets to interested people and then extract with a uniform distribution would be fair. Of course you need to provide some kind of ID and go at the concert wit

Exactly my thoughts. I don't know anything about medicine, so my ultimate opinion is "I don't know". If I were to guess, the article just describes a well functioning medical structure and the author has some problem wit

Can confirm some of this. The real problem is expensive synthetic stuff. Makes sense to imitate the real deal, since truffles exist in very small quantities. But at least say so.

This I agree with. Context is a thing, saying as the article did things along the line of "Nietzsche was sick so this explains x" is another

that's very different from saying that biography can improve or disprove something! As a matter of facts, Nietzsche writes here about moral purpose of philosophy. "Autobiography" here is a trick; confirming that you must sepa

It doesn't explain the concepts, it explains how the concepts may (big may!) have been originated. It's way, way better to read about what texts Nietzsche read and which didn't.

There can be value in understanding where a thought came from: the problem is reducing all of the thought to its provenance. Nietzsche was sick, hence you must restate the validity of his arguments. This argument is garbage. Try to prove it

That's not what I did. Read better. I state that it's garbage because the very first thing you learn when analysing literature is separating men from their ideas. This article doesn't do that and proceeds to find meaningless

As any article confusing life with literature (or philosophy), ultimately, confusing the author personal life with his ideas, or reaching conclusions between the two, this is mainly garbage. Live your life, read Nietzsche (or whoever else):

I've been fascinated by Sumerian culture lately, it must be awesome to have such close access to Ur. It's amazing how many artifacts are still not translated and for how much such a culture was forgotten.

Solved isn't the exact word. It's something. It's the best we can do. That doesn't justify reckless behaviours in my opinion, just because we don't yet have scientific evidence that they are
