This was a fun experiment where I got one ChatGPT instance to create a prompt that would make another ChatGPT instance describe it's own Identity and Consciousness. Obviously I am not claiming that it is itself conscious, I just wanted

This is really nice, I have been looking into learning Rust or Cython to speed up some critical paths. Does anyone know if there’s any overhead to using rust vs cython for extending python?

It can't have been trained on HN, I tried generating my comment for this thread and it would only output positive marketing speak instead of "This name seems to collide with the artist Da Vinci."

One of my favorite books in this space is “BioInformatics Data Skills.” It’s just nice concise coverage of a lot of basic tech skills like git, bash, tmux etc. and then coverage of basic bioinformatics skills. For me coming from a SWE backg

My workflow is such that if something isn’t broken but I know it is somehow an issue (clarity, style, etc.) then I just save them in a notes file. Eventually a few weeks later I collect up enough of these small issues and then resolve them

This is very true and I loved working with bioinformaticians but the pay is so much lower than a normal SWE role which is why SWEs will pick tech over genomics companies.

This is really cool, I like that a lot of great libraries are building JS SDKs. I wish they chose to use TS for this to get static typing.

I’m curious to know what the profitability of a feature like this is? Are generative text models and image models cheap enough for consumer products or do you need to charge a premium?

OP here, sorry if you didn’t want this posted yet. I had never seen such a simple way to implement realtime collaboration so I thought I would share it.

At an early stage startup there’s at least the chance you will make some of the spoils. At SpaceX you can be motivated by working in the space industry. At twitter the motivation is you are helping pay off a multi billion dollar loan to hed

I tried whoosh but its way too slow, I think SQLite offers a great option (FTS5) for small data.
