Israel didn't pull out of Gaza, it simply moved its people to the border and continued its subjugation. They bombed Gaza's airport and implemented a land and sea blockade where they controlled everything that went in or out (to th

Exactly. If Hamas is doing it, it's self-defeating. If Hamas isn't doing it then you're just starving people. Because the point is just starvation, nothing to do with Hamas. BTW, all orgs (other than the lyin' IDF) says

In my previous position, we accomplished this using a "dev docker" (which I covered generally in a previous post: https://blog.fahhem.com/2023/12/dev-onboarding-then-now/ ) that's based around a

Is the issue just that the commit messages aren't considered important in Github's UI? There's a few tools that do this better, notable Reviewable.io makes the commit message(s) into a virtual file that can be commented on. D

The claim that onshape runs in a gpu-enabled AWS instance and 'streams the result' to your browser seems far-fetched. I haven't investigated, but I don't have the best internet connection and onshape isn't laggy lik

Just this week I went on a trip and forgot how I set the battery to not charge 100%. Now I know it was in the BIOS and that I will be able to change it without a restart soon. Anyone know if there's any GUI or CLI tools for these param

It seems another design could have been used, that would likely have been more work but wouldn't rely on getting private signing keys. For instance, the OS could have a carve out for these shims that allows a Google-signed app to overw

I can't tell if this was created before or after all the Examples shown? It feels like people 'invented' this, then this website wrote down the implicit standard everyone already converged on.

What would you recommend onboarding to a new project entail? Studying thousands of lines of code before doing anything? Should they study containerd or just the docker CLI?

You're right, though I didn't mean just the editing latency. For web projects, the latency is now between me and some dev server in the cloud vs localhost, and for CLI as well. For GUIs or anything that interacts with my OS (suc

Yes, it is, but I don't think there's a productive world in which new engineers don't onboard by running commands blindly based on a doc somewhere. I just want a world where those commands reliably work with very few host dep

Which command do I not understand? Devpod.sh is open source, and while I'm not a master of Go personally I can tell it's basically running docker commands for me. Should I not run docker itself without reading the source code too?

Looking at my ssh config, devpod injected a Host and that's it there's nothing extra in the container. Instead, there's a ProxyCommand that runs devpod, which probably ends up in a docker exec somewhere. That's why you&#

I avoid IDE specific workflows, that's why I'm using devpod. As a result, I can 'ssh' into the container from anywhere, or docker exec, and build automation just gets a 'docker exec' shoved in front of every co
