The enterprise stuff is almost always longer lasting, but the only one that truly lasts is (was?) optane. You shouldn't trust an ssd long term, especially modern ones. I've probably seen 100 drive failures in total (hdd and ssd) a

You gotta be careful doing that with modern ssds, they generally fail instantly with no warning signs. I've never seen smart data report under 90% but I've seen tons of modern ssds fail in a year or less. I wish they would just be

If you actually want a github alternative, use gitlab. Can't speak to the web experience, but self hosted is miles better than any of the alternatives. I found gitea to be fairly lacking.

Can't believe how soon this announcement came after the redhat "we're killing centos support now, best of luck". It's pretty clear how this industry reacts to major support changes with no heads up.

Last time I talked to them, the entire f# team at Microsoft was still fewer than 10 people. Language features, lsp modules, visual studio support, etc. They do technically exist but it's far from a focus at ms.

In my experience, most of these "cloud/advanced/ai" anti-virus tools will tag your executables if you use common open source packers (upx) or open source obfuscators. Using less common tools generally doesn't raise

The one built into vs2022 has this and works pretty well if you happen to use it already. I think vscode has many of these features but I haven't tried it there. Otherwise I'd say look at gitkraken (free for personal use I think)

If you're really new, I'd say either python or c# (unless you have a goal in mind). C++ and rust are both a lot more difficult to learn if you don't have any background imo. The scoping and memory management rules will distra

Have you tried running it in pypy? Or using @njit in numba? I've found both to be faster than cpython. Of course there's also cython if you're brave but that tends to be a lot more work.

I seem to recall things getting worse before the industry swung back into sane specs. The bulldozer era cpus were toasters that could do 5-6 ghz and both amd and nvidia made high power gpus with 2 chips on a single board.
