Offering a choice is tricky here. Since failures are significantly affected by the software ability to properly manage the device (and needs to be updated periodically to keep that up to date). So yeah you can choose to keep the old version

I think there is none, except you loose some warranty and access to BMW digital services, like updates. As I see this, you are buying two pieces of stuff - the physical car and a software subscription service. Maybe we need to split the tw

The machine prints a paper ballot that is considered the actual vote. Any electronic copy is just a counting optimization. https://www.wired.com/2003/11/e-votes-must-leave-a-paper-tra...

To add some thought to this. The interview results need to be reasonably repeatable and comparable to assess interviewer skew and bias. The result is that the interviews themselves inevitably end up being somewhat predicable. And what is pr

I'm confused - what allows the victims to sue Tesla directly? Legally the driver bears the responsibility, no? I can see driver suing tesla for a malfunction. Can my neighbor below sue my washer manufacturer if they got flooded?

Not really. That a human driving in conjunction with autopilot enabled is far safer. If anyone would read that as the car driving autonomy being far safer we would have fatal crashes every day.

I spend way more time in YouTube than in search. If anything it should be the other way around. There is the argument that many shopping decisions start with the search, but not sure if there is an order of magnitude difference.

Does someone know how the str type works? From lang reference it's pointer/size/capacity struct but none of the examples does any freeing of strings. What kind of magic is this?

I lost the humble part at variable re-binding and automagical str type. And does the job well at implementation-defined int size and a char = u8 (there is a rune type, so why bother?)

Just a nitpick Clang is a specific C/C++ compiler implementation using LLVM, not the C language. Names are hard :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clang

Currently there exists a widely used "being used with hardware" hoophole that allows taking pure maths and adding a bit of hardware in there "a memory unit" "a processing unit" "I/O unit" and hav

Your time and mental effort are limited. And your own research is not that effective in areas you have little working experience. In my experience a lot of older people (40+) increasingly rely on advice/influencers to drive their prod

Could be that the marked is getting split because of the sanctions and internal prices are diverging. Similar in Soviet times there was a special internal rate that was very disconnected from international.

Fair question. If apple charged for the actual costs it would be a non issue. Instead they charge 10x the industry fees for credit card transactions and gives the rest for "free". And that puts any app that has considerable runnin

Swisscom launched RCS a year ago. That is the next gen beyond MMS. Also no sign up, no extra costs, handled by the carrier, needs a data plan though.

That was never really a thing. More like a hope. There was V2, v2.5, V3. With both compute and camera improvements. It's pretty much expected that you will need some form of hw upgrade if your car is >2 years old when the FSD becom

Oh no, laptops thermal throttle all the time. As do most of the desktops. It's part of normal operation for any CPU/GPU released in last 10 or so years. There is a reason why intel advertises a regular and "Boost" clock

Interesting. From what I could gather, latency in ICs is dominated by the time it takes for a voltage to build up at the sink, which is dominated by the resistances and capacitances along the way, makes sense.

Yeah, using significantly cheaper but just somewhat slower hardware works great if you can parallelize. Also cutting edge is usually very power hungry and power/cooling costs are majority of your expenses at data center scale.

Fibonacci queue is a bit special that insertion is constant but extraction is log. A-star is very insertion heavy. In easy cases with a factor of 5, so using Fib gives significant boost in performance.

Not mass, size. You can still have a small but massive flying device and would end up with the same acceleration and jerk because need more thrust to zero the gravity out. The bigger your thing is the relatively smaller the 9.8 m/s^2 i

All radar based braking systems in the market filter out stationary objects because too many false positives. To my knowledge there is no AEB system in production that could reliably avoided this.
