This is as hardcore pointless fanboy-ism as the speculative JPEG trading nutters. How can you be so emotional about tech? Maybe there’s a middle ground?

We don’t know each other - how would we trade or bet or do something that requires trusting each other? For example what would be your current solution to have a $10 bet on the outcome of a sports game tomorrow, between me and you?

I quite like oracle based betting. Lots of sports/gaming/news apps have public APIs to see the results of something - aggregate them, plug them into a smart contract, and bet a total stranger on the outcome of an event with intern

Does it need to be statistically faithful or can it just fuzz the data type? Maybe that’s better for testing anyway?

Depends on who’s making money, how much money, etc… could be that if you don’t require having Yahoo build this but a small open source protocol with people tipping to cover electrical costs it’s far cheaper :)

If you think every project out there is some scam, and the entire space is speculation, then you’re in a similar polar opposite bubble to those trading jpegs. There’s loads of cool things going on in the space that allow you to build produc

Exactly this! It’s amazing how simple it is to add a crypto payment system into an app or write a smart contract.

Had a quick discussion about a use case for Web3 based self-hosted emails yesterday that didn’t get downvoted into oblivion by HN for once :) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31180379&p=2#31180968

You’d imagine Postgres or whatever would have a built in function to populate a DB based on types as a sort of fuzzing tool tbh I worked on a gov app years ago that required anonymized databases and I remember thinking that then - why isn’t

GPT-NeoX 20B is worse than davinci at writing code - NeoX seems to only really work with C/C++, and even then it's not the best. Just tried to ask it some leetcode questions and honestly I'm not sure what it was doing, but re

I know this can be a good idea because it helps you catch stuff, but man how could you convince patients that you're a reliable company if you did lose something by deliberately turning stuff off and on again. I wonder if you could a

I'm not saying it's woke or not woke, I doubt anyone could agree on one definition, but I think it's clear people talking about Netflix "being woke" are saying this because of the original content they create.

I’m holding out for this - Nix is the only tech I veto in startups I work at nowadays because I’ve never seen it go well beyond small dev scripts, and time spent on Nix is time taken from the product/project.

The issue is if you need A, B, and C to do a task and your function fails if it doesn’t retrieve it, won’t it waste time cleaning ingredients for a dish you can’t make? I don’t think it’s less readable than carrot = fetch carrot onion = fet
