To me, the best feature of Firefox compared to Chromium (both out of the box, no extensions. not sure if there are extensions that could help) is the address bar. Firefox does a fuzzy search into your browsing history and if you visit the s

Absolutely. Seems like modern compilers inline everything they possibly can, regardless whether you mark your functions inline or not.

Virtual function calls can be expensive, just compare the out-of-the-box performance between std::sort (c++, no virtual calls) and qsort (c, "virtual call" via function pointer). This can make a 10x difference when sorting somethi

Exactly. The cost is not the overhead from the actual call - it's the fact that it inhibits other optimizations. The same applies to normal function calls when link time optimization is disabled. This only becomes relevant in hot loops

You've hit the nerve there. OpenGL has so much implicit state and "defaults" set for you that you can get a "hello world" -style app done really quickly, but then it all falls apart. And if I'm guessing correct

If the pilot initiates a go around they need to announce it to the ATC. It is usually a drastic full power pull up that will certainly disrupt nearby air traffic. So the pilot probably did not start the go around before being told so.

Assuming the liveatc audio in the article has not been edited, it sounds like there's about 10 seconds between ATC giving go around and the United pilot saying they flew right over. With instructions given to Air Canada in between so i
