I'm more supprised that the people that actually forked up the cash to buy it arent more pissed. You'd have thought their contract has certain stipulations on performance.

Search wise it would likely get to the top of Google just based on it being the main domain. But realistically people will still seach for Twitter or TwitterX or even Xcom

Not really surprising when its become clear streaming isnt the money maker they all thought it would be. With the exception of Netflix they've all lost billions with zero sign of that changing.

macOS needs another Snow Leopard. It was a bit of a one off OS release from Apple, and instead of being an intense focus on new features, the whole point of that release was to improve stability and performance. They removed a ton of legacy

Supported is probably the wrong term. Tolerated might be better. Whilst Windows runs on it theres very little there beyond the usual Microsoft standard of "yep we did it, whats next" and ignoring the platform. Making it work on AR

I highly doubt they ever will. Their insistance on baking in legacy support to modern Windows is their biggest downfall. Because of that every installation of Windows will always need to be backwards compatible and carry that burden.

I had a similar situation a year or two ago and since then have had several juniors complain that we're using "old tech" or missing out on the latest packages. I gave up trying to be understanding and reason with them. It jus

The issue is though that even with limited supply its really not a big deal for ISP's. Some have just turned to NAT as a cheap option. It sucks for consumers but the ISP's dont care.

This _could_ be a twitter competitor. But the instance of bundling it with Instagram is what will ensure it fails. Meta have absolutely no common sense when it comes to understanding their audience. If you're going to take on Twitter w

25 minutes is easy to hit when something is happening (be it a world event, sporting event, etc). Case in point: I was watching the F1 sprint race this afternoon, taking part in a few discussions on Twitter about it as I always do. It took

Nobody would join anything social based run by Google anymore. For one thing we all know it would already be in the phase of being closed down, not to mention nobody (Even Google customers) trusts them.

Oh awesome, yeah I hit the limit by about 5pm. How damn stupid do you have to be to not only restrict viewing to logged in users, but to then limit how long those eyeballs can look at your adverts. Between Reddit's implosion and Twitte

The language you use matters very little. It's how you use it. PHP's not at fault here, even if they used Java or another language their incompetence would still be the issue.

The only major downside (and the one that will ensure Lemmy doesn't gain any significant traction after this) is that its incredibly underdeveloped and nowhere near as close to being able to replace Reddit as Mastedon was for Twitter.
