I think cryptocurrency is actually failing, not because of technical nor political reasons, but all because of the sheer stupidity of populus. You see, cryptocurrencies are absolutely vulnerable to social engineering likes this, and I belie

This. The more ad platform becomes accurate, the more ads will exploit vulnerabilities in human mind. Some might believe they don't have such vulnerabilities, but there can be some in subconscious level. Ad tech is basically PSYOP and

I think maybe you're being too harsh in your comment, by calling an partial observation "FUD". It's true that there are many dead toy implementations, and many servers don't display content on the main pages, so it&

Thanks for the reply. I've written graphics code only on more-or-less lab environments, and have read many papers mentioning screen-space algorithms which trades off accuracy for other characteristics. Maybe I'm triggered by that.

I'm a bit puzzled here, after seeing the word "screen-space". I'm no game dev, but I know that there's tessellation shader for this very purpose. We can let the shader churn out more points on-demand in a separate s

I don't think this is difficult to engineer. It's a good example of ML/AI being used for optimization, which I believe is the most legit usecase that everyone should be aiming for. Still, the problem is how do we get to the s

Automerge is one thing, it's the implementation that relied on some pure text hack. Matching text is a hard problem, and regex is not a solution, but a mere tool that translates one problem to another. Actually, it only creates more pr

The point is not using MongoDB here, and that means the database logic has to be reimplemented, likely in a different way because of different requirements. Using python does hurt embedding and performance, but at least one can easily get

Yeah, but, at least, with python, devs can prototype and verify, early and fast. Imagine implementing this in C/C++ or even Rust. You get extra layers of problems to handle in your brain.

I'm slightly afraid of all the negativity here, but still kinda agree with the sentiment. However, I still want to note that there are many cases where smart people simply don't have enough time to handle all the stupidity in thei

I thought about this topic many times too, but I believe neither is better than the other. Below is just my personal idea, nothing really well founded. “Descriptive” software accelerates exploration, and “prescriptive” software is a lower-c

One thing I realized is that, surprisingly, systemd is not so relevant for servers, mainly because abusing docker is better in many cases. Systemd shines with desktops, that needs to dynamically start/stop a lot of services.
