You're going to HAVE to give them support, if only to get them setup. Think long and hard if selling this sort of on-prem version of your product makes sense for YOU. If not, it's likely going to be an expensive distraction and ju

I mean, you _can_ go bare metal with Nordic chips, but you'd definitely be swimming against the current. I'm not a fan of Zephyr, but it really wasn't that much trouble to put together a docker image that would let me spin up

Sleeping the CPU until you get an interrupt from an IMU or simple motion detector is a common way to do this. It's not about being stealthy so much as extending battery life.

If you're going to try and track this stuff for real, keep in mind most devices like this use motion sensors to go into low-power mode when stationary and only transmit on the move.

Sometimes the smart think is to encourage folks to do their thing, and if it's successful buy it back in-house.

I'm one of those generalists who's done everything from bare metal work, to cloud stuff, to most things in between. Very few companies hire for that. They usual have some particular pain point they need fixed and I have experience

I've worked for some genuinely great companies (and some not so great) over the course of my career and companies change, just like people. A great company you joined, might not be so great in 3-5 years and there's rarely much one

Because people will often see people who they don't perceive as low performers getting lumped in with 'low performers' and laid off. At that point, you start looking for management that seem to know what they're doing.

The docs are good in the "I think there should be a way to do X" and if you have a good sense of how Yocto is organized, you'll know where to check if X exists. That's...not a trivial thing.

Tuesday, indeed. :) In the embedded world, correctly working hardware isn't a given, either. Part of the board bringup/hardware verification process is just determining that everything on the board actually works. Always fun when

This is truth. I've done a lot of work bringing up custom boards with both Yocto and Buildroot and I rather like Yocto. But yeah, first project with Yocto was painful. It's rather well documented, but one really needs a good idea
