If you play Zachtronics games on Steam your best scores show up ranked against any Steam friends that have played the level. I've found trying to out optimize my friends pretty rewarding at times.

Did Vista's kernel break from XP's in some significant way? I've never heard anything indicating that Vista/7/8/10 were a new kernel, and not a continuation of the NT line.

I'm not sure if AMD could offer Thunderbolt, which might be a deal breaker for Apple.

Thunderbolt displays will only work with a Thunderbolt port. Apparently you can adapt the Thunderbolt display's Thunderbolt 2 mini-display port connector to the newer Thunderbolt 3 connector via Apple's adapter. But you're

When you say that devs get paid based on time played, I'm assuming this is platform wide hours, and not per player? Have you considered alternative rev share models? Whenever I see this sort of service, I'm concerned that it is g

I'm sure this is just arguing about definitions, but the Color Graphics Adapter (CGA)[1] was a graphics card. I don't know what else you could call it. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Graphics_Adapter

You're right in that the original IBM PC shipped with optional CGA graphics. Searching around I'm finding conflicting information on Flight Simulator 1's use of the black & white 640×200 CGA mode and support for a colour

KSP has been extremely successful financially. The staff problems likely come from Squad not being a game studio. It was a marketing agency, and KSP grew out of an employee's passion project. Management has never seemed to be invested

It seems that for network management vPro needs a compatible CPU, motherboard chipset, and a Intel ethernet controller. So in theory Macs are safe from remote exploitation? What will really be interesting to see is if this is exploitable v

I've seen several attempts to do the same thing with games. Introduce another site, or another portal, and hope to drive discoverability through it. But the audience has no incentive to visit your portal. In games, Steam and the app

Your comment sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole. I was confused about how burning 1L of fuel, which weighs ~1kg, could possibly produce ~2.3kg of CO2. (This page confirms Toyota's number: http://www.eia.gov/tools/

I certainly agree that vector performance is overrated. But it seems to dominate HPC spending. At least on the top500. But maybe AMD can pick up some HPC spending for smaller clusters designed to run less specialized code? I don't
