Having worked in tech here in the states for 18 years, I'd say the same thing about most engineers I've worked with here.

Exactly, if you put it another way, it's a highly self-selecting group. They are well educated, highly motivated and driven, and are so focused on "making it" whatever that means, they are willing to move to a foreign countr

Core.typed is a library, not an extension to the language itself. It's completely optional and is not related to clojure.core at all. While your points may be valid, this may not be a great example.

The only thing I'll say in this thread is that many of these responses are extremely similar to the arguments people gave me when I chose RoR as the framework for my startup instead of java back in 2005. That said, of course rails is v

Could you explain what specifically goes wrong with ZK clusters? I keep hearing how people have issues with it, but we've been running one for ~4 months now with absolutely 0 issues.

Using data structures without a schema is user error, and isn't the fault of any particular language. The rest of your points have some merit. :)

His experiment where he had the kid put his hand in the water without getting his hand wet blew me away as a youth. Loved his show, and wish there was something like it on for my kids.

I agree with others that less tooling is needed then usual for clojure, however, DEFINITELY check out cursive clojure. You can do exactly what you're asking for. Right now I am working on a back-end API, and with the REPL and Intellij

No offense, but based on your post, I don't think you understand what being introverted actually means. It appears you're referring to social anxiety or something, which is VASTLY different then introversion.

Interesting you have been spending time looking at Java source code, what problems were you trying to solve? I have been working professionally with clojure for about a year and haven't had to look at any Java source code.
