I was about to say the same thing! Surviorship Bias. It applies to everything you mentioned (Facebook, HN, HackADay) http://youarenotsosmart.com/2013/05/23/survivorship-bias/

John Boyd fought for years to build single-purpose fighters, but the idea of one, all-purpose warplane is just too seductive. (See John Boyd's biography by Robert Coram)

This is just a story but a friend of a friend who had been fed soy milk as a baby, developed all kinds of food allergies even from things like chocolate, sugar, etc. She can't eat anything!

I agree with the original poster. Learning C definitely allowed me to understand (and feel) the code from the inside. If you just use a Hashmap or Array without knowing how you'd do it in C, you're just playing with Lego pieces. (I also agr

I learned Italian while watching Italian TV and movies with subtitles in Albanian. After a while, you pick things up without any conscious effort.

Yes while I'm certainly not an expert in game theory (which is still an evolving field) my reservations with it are with the core principles of it mentioned above. If you notice an inefficiency in the marketplace, you might be able to expl
