Traveling to major cities in China (and Korea) is like a preview of where the US will be in ~5 years from a technology-society integration perspective. Easy payments on your phone, electronic communications for official notices/corres

Isn't pretty much the same thing happening in San Francisco, too? Alongside all the other drivers of increased home prices there. I think SF has shot up the ranks to become one of the most expensive cities in the world now, right?

Ugh. This type of behavior should be banned everywhere. It's incredibly invasive and it serves no function in evaluating candidate fit. It serves merely to increase already high information asymmetry against you and reduce your pros

Gotcha. So, if an app is monetizing (wholly or partially) through ads, they can still offer rewards for viewing those ads and turning on ad-tracking. Cool and thanks for dropping the knowledge. Think there's any chance that the poli

Great links and good perspective here. I agree completely that it is unfair that big companies can perform these maneuvers while small-businesses (and even profitable start-ups) would struggle to. There are so many scale-asymmetries in bu

This is a great reminder, thanks. Slight concern that the developer on ACLU's behalf is something called Quadrant 2, Inc, which seems to be owned by an individual operator as opposed to a larger established company. Not sure what the

I think this is a good point. I wonder if livestreams could be enabled but perhaps comments/feedback could be disabled or invisible to the poster. This could also address concerns that external viewers might feed a suspect/perpe

You know that being confrontational and absolutist doesn't help anything and is part of the reason why it's hard to have discussions like this in a reasonable way nowadays, right? Goes with the territory if this is Facebook, or

That seems like a really good suggestion, if it were decided that it's in the public interest not to show some situations live.

Would most of the companies on those lists be affected similarly? Did they also transfer IP and likely undervalue it at the time of transfer, as FB is alleged to have done here?

What? Sure, there is no direct loss here. But it is a setback. Also, they (at least temporarily) lose the previously established verdict award ($625M, apparently) and also now have to decide whether to re-try (with the associated costs).
