But you didn't give a brief summary. You gave your take on the bits you found interesting (or possibly the bits you bothered to read) which, to the rest of us, is worse than useless.

Apple is smarter than this. They would not have released such a half-baked replacement unless they were forced to. I suspect Google refused to renew knowing Apple were working on a replacement but were not yet ready. This is Apple's "Vista"

I wonder what the behind-the-scenes truth of this is? Apple must have known that their mapping solution wasn't ready for release. Perhaps Google forced their hand or Google pulled the plug knowing that Apple would dump them eventually but w

Ignoring the whiners, fanroids and Apple haters. Apple did this for a reason: to maximise revenue. If this encourages people to buy more stuff more quickly it stays otherwise it will change to something else. The "it's all different" whinin

"Android can be beautiful" eh? Saying it doesn't make it so. As an aspiration it is so far from current reality as to be simply delusional.

A focus on testing is not the same as a focus on quality. Also, if your test criterion is "doesn't crash" then a lot of slowness, resource leaks etc, may be, and probably are, acceptable to you.

Odd, the Economist is usually rather intelligent. Apple doesn't need great leaps forward, that was the first iPhone. "Steady as she goes" is now good enough. They mainly need to convince those whose contracts are expiring to renew their vow
