That’s probably good on balance, except for alcohol. But this article doesn’t meaningfully change this recommendation (it’s an extra pebble on a large mountain).

No, you’re just failing to understand what “equational reasoning” means. It has little to do with the idea of LeftSide = RightSide. In fact you don’t even need an “equation” in that sense, or any equality sign, to do equational reasoning. E

I can tell you that Adalimumab is going to be at least as effective as Infliximab, and probably marginally better, at a minimum. This will obviously vary by patients, but Adalimumb is simply a superior design (it has comparable-to-somewhat-

The top down approach has actually been the state of the art in America for the last 5-10 years. It has been the state of the art in Europe since at least 5 years earlier than that-- And the conflict between the two schools of thought has b

If you tried to understand as hard as you're trying to argue, you wouldn't be having this argument.

Yes but this is a contrived example so it’s not going to be the best illustration of the difference. You’re literally executing methods on an object as a way to instruct the computer to perform specific steps. The fact that you can read it

I don’t know what you think declarative means, but the example you’re showing is as non-declarative as it could be for such a simple thing.

That example is as point free as it gets. Just because the syntax doesn’t look like Haskell doesn’t really change that.

A pet peeve of mine is when people assume qualitative data is less rigorous. It's really just as rigorous and just as valid, and can sometimes require even more sophisticated analysis. Anyone can plug numbers into a formula (there are

To be perfectly honest, I don't know Scala very well. I'm more interested in "pure FP" languages than in multi-paradigm languages, because the former seem much more coherent in design to me. IMO, functional programming i

I am okay with your definition of "readability", but only insofar as you use it to criticize the reader. Code should be judged on its own merit, and in that case your definition of "readability" doesn't really help

The main source of complexity here comes from the design of the python language. The ideas this library is based on actually come from languages that seek absolute mathematical simplicity. Don't let unfamiliarity get in the way!

Medical risks are always very real for anything. To pile on the anecdotes, I corrected a -6.5 left eye and a -5.5 right eye with LASIK, had dry eyes the first year, and never had any issues afterward. Life changer.

If your functions are 100 lines long, readability may be in the eyes of the beholder. That's how big I'd expect most modules to be.

Your issue with the GPS coordinates sounds more like a noise/signal processing problem than anything.
