I think if it were a frontal shot then sure I’d agree. But in this case I think if you draw anything sexual from that image then you are just way too horny and that’s your business and yours alone. This is exactly the kind of image you woul

Yes you are a prude. There is nothing salacious about nudity especially at a beach!

Google is chock full of services with whimsical names. I’m not a fan either but I think in this industry you’re fighting a losing battle.

These are great benefits for sure, but one of the reasons I left is a totally ineffective and wasteful management structure that makes it extremely hard to actually do anything. It is very hard to feel like your work means anything at a com

It depends. In this trivial case, what do you do if you find s == nil is true? You probably panic anyway. Unless you have some specific reason to panic with a different message to the default “nil pointer dereference” then there’s no point

I think if there are a lot of functions (or a function with a lot of arguments, common to python) you have clutter regardless. I would rather have a bunch of different names than a bunch of different functions with the same name. Having to

Sean in his recent, very long “quick AMA” twitch stream said he had played with it a little bit but they didn’t really make anything with it, such is the overlap with Max with which they were already invested.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but this take seems absolutely out of pocket to me. Drukqs is Rich’s most well-rounded, polished, and arguably revolutionary project. From a sound design and arrangement perspective it still sounds

Who is we? You talk like there is some hypocrisy here but you’re treating all people as one person. Mental health researchers and workers advocate for more support for people across the board. Politicians don’t give a shit because their con

It’s crazy to me how many of us were sysops around age 11-13. I was also one of them. Great memories.

That’s why I favour simple single-speed bikes for commuting. Almost nothing can go wrong with them, and you can fix almost anything that does go wrong with a small bike tool. It’s also nice that they’re so cheap you don’t really care too mu

That’s not it at all. Almost all art is just quietly ignored. If people have strong feelings about your art then that’s a huge win.

My view is that both Myst and Descent were compelling at release because they showcased new technologies. For Myst it was a high res 3d modelled world you could traverse, interspersed with video clips, all made possible by the new CD-ROM te

They were explained clearly in the article I found. Although those last three are self-explanatory if you know what the individual words mean, they’re in the dictionary.

Go’s reflect package is not “missing” that feature, it is intentionally omitted as it defeats static analysis. In all my years writing Go (14 now), including some tricky metaprogramming, I have never needed to look up a function by name.

I live in rural Australia and about a decade ago we lost power for 5 days after a cyclone swept through. Some parts of the grid are pretty vulnerable. I have solar and a battery now. :-)

I find your comment quite ironic considering the engineers that built Google search did it by developing novel software systems, to great success. The Google codebase is basically the definition of NIH syndrome.

What would have to happen to earth to make it less viable a place to live than mars? An asteroid rendering earth’s surface uninhabitable? Even that wouldn’t be enough - there’s still so much more on earth to sustain human life than any plan

It didn’t require it. It just was one of the first major titles that supported full ray tracing. If you didn’t use that then it could run on much more modest systems and still looks great.

This is a strange argument to me. It’s essentially that the additional complexity of docker compose is acceptable because other things are unnecessarily complex. The problem is complexity. There are many great projects that are just “build
