I did a lot of selling of Go, for years, and my position was that it’s about building an ecosystem that’s a solid basis for software engineering. Not a quantum leap, just sound proven ideas that yield predictable and reliable results.

I don’t see much, if any, generated Go code at Google. Not to say that it doesn’t happen but it’s not on my radar.

I just had a play with it. It seems very well thought out. It has a very nice tutorial that introduces all the basic concepts. I am looking forward to trying out the multiplayer aspect, as that seems to be the most compelling thing about it

That's how modern trackballs work. Optical mice are cheaper to produce and more reliable than those with balls, and trackballs are the same in that regard.

Depending where you are, your employer might actually be making themselves liable for your physical health. Everyone's bodies are different; IMO it's not ethical to prevent your employees from choosing their own input devices.

It’s not insightful at all. Just one intern’s very brief observations of something way more complicated and nuanced than is deserving of such a dismissive comment.

If you want the same thing to have multiple names you can just use a hard link. Symlinks are a broken idea in Plan9 because whether they’re relative or absolute they may not point to the same thing depending on how you have your namespace s

I have said this elsewhere but there is little more satisfying for this 90s nerd than curling up on the couch and spending the afternoon with one of Fabien’s books. Nostalgia and tech detail, doesn’t get much better than this.

I think it's about expressing vulnerability, not merely being vulnerable (which we all are, and have no control over, whether we choose to express it or not). A simple example of expressing a vulnerability is prefacing a technical op
