I've fought through MUCH more boredom during my startup career than at any other point. Startups are great fun while you're building the product. Then you release it, and while you'd love to be implementing new features you're really stuck

What is a product if not the sum of its features? Features aren't extraneous things, they are what your product actually does . This article strikes me as one big platitude to be honest. Yes, simplifying your interface and creating well de

I think you would have gotten a resounding yes on this one. "Would you be intersted in a seaarch engine that is much better at finding the content your actually looking for?" is a yes every time.

For me it's not about smoking pot, it's about not putting people in jail for it. A decent chunk of our budget mess at the state and local levels is in law enforcement. We spend huge amounts of money enforcing bad laws. I'd like to make that

I wonder what this means for other Fox Interactive products? Photobucket was tied at the hip to myspace for instance. Anyone have any idea what's going on there?

While I tend to agree with you that he likely did something malicious, a guilty plea in this day and age doesn't really tell you that. He may have been taking a plea bargain out of fear of much worse?

Although I don't understand how he reconciles that with his rather strict views on "obscenity" and how that can be strictly regulated. The constitution doesn't specifically address either, yet nudity can absolutely be regulated (or accordin

This is a bit late, but oh well. It was a single contractor, working on a project tangential to our primary codebase (an add-on product). He had several other clients and projects at the time and was paid by the hour for the work. Part of t

White flight and bussing issues certainly played a part. I'd argue that there were forces at work bigger than satisfaction with place. added on edit : There's lots of smaller (single-center) towns with a nice downtown, and a crappy strip

How close to work and your favorite play areas do you live? That's what really matters is it not? I'm betting your desire to bike is driven more by proximity first, and bike amenities second.

This is a head scratcher. Downtowns, by their nature, are the very epitome of mixed use. They are almost always populated (to some extent), sport shops and restaurants, as well as providing employment. It doesn't get more "mixed use" than t

I'm not sure that's true. It certainly isn't in my case. Most of the successful startups I've been around actually have done quite the opposite (including my own.. I'm comfortable calling us "successful" now). While there are periods of i

It's not just for newbies. I'm competent with SQL, but that doesn't mean I enjoy writing query after query. We use Django and utilize the ORM... we jump down into SQL in the (rare) case that we really need too. I'm sure at higher scale (we'
