Then there are schools like Little Rock Central (which I use as an example merely because I'm familiar with it). They routinely pump out national merits and presidential scholars. The quality of the education, if you choose to engage in it,

How is the processor "getting screwed" here? Again, for a great many businesses Square is the (significantly) more expensive option. I get that they're killing it at craft fairs, but I'm the with the thread-parent...I don't see what the "di

I don't think there is anything inherent in the Android (or Microsoft) model that would prevent them from entering into similar arrangements. Although maybe that is whats holding up in-app payments for Android?

These furloughs have become absolutely routine for municipal governments. In the (likely) event of a budget shortfall, they just shutdown for one friday a month (or some variation) and take either vacation days or a day of pay away.

There is no point in your life that you can more easily take 3 months off to do whatever you want than when you are a "recent college grad". My biggest life regret was not realizing this at the time. I jumped into the workforce and pursue

I can't speak to tablets, but its great to have on my phone. I'll routinely pull up things like espn3 when wanting to watch a game when I'm not at home. For that, it works wonders.

I bet about the same percentage that know about the long-hold of the home button to bring up the task switcher in Android (not many). I was amazed that my wife, who has had an Android phone for a year, didn't know about that one...

On quibble: In Android the back button really seems to serve the purpose of "take me anywhere BUT here". I have no real cognitive sense (generally) of where I am in the stack. I simply hit the back button until I get back to something that

Amazon has a design aesthetic that I really like. It also fits really well with what Android is doing. The sheer amount of engineering talent that a Google/Amazon partnership would create is astounding.

Is adcenter a failure? I have no idea what their data looks like, but I do know that bids have gotten quite competitive (much more Google like) since the Yahoo partnership.

It seems to me that organizations tend to take on the personality of the strongest person in the chain. EVERY large company has one or two rogue units inside of it that behave very differently (usually for the better) than the overall cultu

Ya there are. I've had planes take off fairly delayed because of folks doing just this. We just sit there as the airline tries to reconcile why the number of checked-in passengers doesn't match their passenger count. I'm guessing this is so

Intent is all important in this stuff. I can justify spending $5 per CLICK on Google, because about 30% of the time that user really is looking for my service and interested in using it. Facebook lacks that intent, so their CPC is always go

I feel like MySpace never quite penetrated the mainstream the way twitter has. It was always something people were largely aware of, but outside of the segments it did really well in, people rarely engaged with it. Twitter seems to be a bit
