Since the article opens with discussion of RTSs in the (late) 90s, I feel it would be a crime to not include Dune 2[0], largely considered to be the first "modern" RTS. Edit: Dune2 came out in 1992, so it's understandable tha

So for the uninitiated (me), does this mean the input is not a float (i.e. is quantized on input), such that all the math can be done with int operations? This seems almost too good to be true. Edit: Answering my own question, yes. The det

One I don't see mentioned here is market. There are far more c++ developers out there. Whether you're writing a library that someone else will be using, or you want to hire people (or have people contribute), c++ is a much large

Imho the thing that killed stadia was the pricing model. Buying games but not owning them outright* is a recipe for failure, especially for a company known for killing off services (and I say that as a xoogler with very mixed feelings). Sta

The obligatory "this is the year of the Linux desktop". Does this include phones? So Android is lumped in? I'd expect it to be much higher if it did.

Pigweed does some pretty nifty stuff that conventionally on an embedded system one would home-grow. E.g. tokenizing strings to save on logging overhead https://pigweed.dev/pw_tokenizer/

Can someone explain how this is still on going? This affects most countries on the planet, and only a handful stand to gain from it. I would think this would be solvable with even just the threat of military intervention.
