Can someone explain how this is still on going? This affects most countries on the planet, and only a handful stand to gain from it. I would think this would be solvable with even just the threat of military intervention.

Even if you think you are 100% correct in your analysis of what is happening in Israel/Gaza right now (I disagree, but that's not the point), I think you should reevaluate using language like this on Hacker News, this is not the place for it and you will likely be downvoted.
