You got my point. I do appreciate the created/modified date on pages, I just prefer content to be organize by something pertinent to the content itself. Sometimes that is the publication date, sometimes it’s something else.

This confused me when I first came to Taiwan. I noticed in a TV drama that the candlestick colors were “wrong” and chuckled at the clueless writers of a low budget drama, and forgot about it. Then one day I opened the Stocks app on my iPhon

You could mitigate that by only linking to pages that implement the HTML subset deemed valid. And instead of linking away to another domain, you could syndicate those pages on a centralized domain so to prevent loading dangerous or slow con

I’ve noticed this same thing with my Framework, and thought it must be a bug in i3lock, PAM or something else. Multiple times right after waking it, i3lock tells me multiple times that my password is incorrect. Upon restart it works fine.

I do, but I'd say that was an okay design and that bloatware bundlers abused it. It was simple to use and made a lot of sense for your "always on" applications like AIM, but definitely didn't need to be occupied by an ic

I realize this rail yard is an atypical scenario. I was responding to the analogy about leaving a laptop in your car. I know it’s unthinkable to do that in almost any populated area of the US, but the expectation of rampant theft isn’t a ne

At one point I had my Google Voice number tied to Hangouts, so SMS came through that app, and maybe one or two friends that also used Hangouts. I was never sure what client or integration they used, because it always seemed disjointed, like

Recruiters will just dishonestly check all the boxes that you're looking for. They don't care if they waste your time with a bad match. They carpet bomb everyone with their 'opportunity' because it's no cost to them

My solution is a little heavy handed, but if a recruiter email doesn't include the company, position, and a salary range, it's spam and I mark it as such. If they send me a "just checking in after my last email," I add t

What effect does that have on hiring? Are companies more averse to giving someone a shot since they can’t get information about their experience?

The will not. They will confirm start and end dates, ask if the termination was voluntary, and may ask if they would hire them again in the future.

This is long dead, but yes that would be the next step. At least right now, you could only falsely claim someone’s account if they installed my verification skin, but you could wait for someone to do that and then quickly claim their accoun

Worse then that, it’s also repeating stale content from my friends that I’ve already seen. Facebook has been a weird disorganized feed full of things I think I just saw, over and over, and now Instagram is the same thing.

Not solved. Then instead of sneaky thieves who run away, you get armed heists willing to kill cops and civilians to avoid getting busted.

Reminds me of how I got users to verify their ownership of Minecraft accounts[0]. There is no profile to add a token, but they can switch their skin, and you can download a user’s skin without being in-world. [0] http://zacstewar

I switched to goat counter recently and I’m happy with it. It’s not exactly an open source alternative to Google Analytics, because it’s more privacy oriented. If you want to track and profile your audience, it’s probably not what you want.

Firstly, we’re not talking about America right now. Even so, the US has its faults, but is vastly more transparent than the CCP. I would be shocked if the US arrested scientists and journalists to conceal the origins of a viral outbreak.
