There are a lot of cool tech companies in Sweden but I wouldn't call that the Silicon Valley of Europe. There are also a lot of tech companies in Dublin, London, Berlin, Paris... I don't think any one of those can claim the title

It reminds me an article from the author of Paul Buchheit (gmail's creator), when he was beta testing it internally with Google employees. Many of them were asking for email preview popups directly from the inbox. Instead of implementi

We're talking about employees moving to cheaper areas. I'm pretty sure the housing costs (mortgage or rent) largely offsets the additional costs. I still think Google shouldn't do that, it's cheap to do that and they don

No, we use it because it's superior to the competition. It's much better than Subversion that was the standard before git arrived. And it's much better than Mercurial that was competing to become the source control system to

No I don't think so. To be able to dock it you need a screen and keyboard (or a laptop-style "shell"). That means you need a device that takes just as much space as an independent device but can't be used unless you plug

Streaming only replaces the machine that runs the game (instead of the local computer). If you need servers for a massive multiplayer game, game streaming services won't help you.

Godot is solid for 2D games, but a bit weaker for 3D, especially if you want to match the render quality of AAA games. My understanding is that you can create AAA-level 3D games with O3DE. The way I see it is Godot is an alternative to Unit

You can get hired by a Silicon Valley company that have a presence in Europe. You won't get a salary as high as Silicon Valley itself but it will still be much higher that other companies, and the work will be pretty similar. However I

Unfortunately this is a network effect lock-in. Content creators need to be on YouTube because that's where the audience is. Viewers need to use YouTube because that's where the content is.

I'm not sure about US dollar stores but there are really good deals at Japan's 100 yen shops. For example simple plastic boxes that cost 10 euros in France are at 100 yen in those shops. So in Japan it's not just for poor peo

Lower latency is always better, but in my experience even the 20ms latency of the Remarkable is something you get used to very quickly. The video your linked is making latency even more obvious by moving the finger fast.

That's a tool that lets you combine the flexibility of paper and some of the features of digital, but just using it doesn't tell you how to write your notes, how to organize them, etc.

I don't really see what that bring compared to Stripe Terminal. Other than the fact that it doesn't have a keyboard for typing PIN code, which makes the chip reader useless for many cards (all of them in France at least).

When I take notes I usually don't limit myself to writing to lines, I write on the sides, makes arrows, etc... For this "visual note taking" paper (or e-ink tablet) is way better.

There is an Android keyboard called Graffiti Pro that does exactly that. I don't think there is anything equivalent on the Remarkable, I think the idea is handwriting then if you need you can OCR it.
