Maybe it's a loophole to allow companies to sell fewer "compliance car" EVs to meet regulatory total-fleet fuel efficiency targets? For instance, maybe Ford has to sell the equivalent of one Mach-e for every ten gas-powered F

I haven't heard it talked about much either, it seems to be folk knowledge. Awhile back I bought a batch of the wrong kind of plywood and was having a terrible time cutting and thought it was something wrong with the machine. Eventua

Ah, you're right, I copied the wrong number. It's 565 MWh of storage not 185MWh.5. $219,000,000.0 / 565,000 Mwh = $387.61/kwh. That's a bit more reasonable. That's not that far out of line with paying retail

$219,000,000.00 / 185,000 kwh = $1,183.78 per kwh. Seems kind of on the expensive side, but maybe it's reasonable for this kind of project -- and there might be some big one-time costs like connecting the site to the power grid. S

I think AAC is pretty rare where I am (Oregon) but apparently there's a company in Bend that specializes in it. They're a Hebel distributor. https://northwestaac.com/ AAC floor and roof panels do exist. My impres

Yeah, 31 is pretty good but the fifths being about 5 cents off kind of throws everything a little out of tune. 5/4 being less than a cent off is great though. If I had to choose an EDO I think it's hard to go wrong with 41. 3&#x

Whenever the topic of water in Gaza comes up in /r/worldnews, there's an oft-repeated bit of misinformation that Gaza doesn't have water because they dug up the EU-financed pipes to make rockets. It's not quite base

I think it depends on what subreddit you're on. /r/worldnews tends to be very pro-Israel, unless the comment are on a story about settler violence. /r/politics is more balanced.

And given that this is a Tesla, it wouldn't really have had many mechanical switches in the first place. Maybe the turn indicator? Which could happily run at 5 volts or something and blink the lights via CAN bus messages.

The terminology can get confusing. I many contexts, a "brushless DC motor" is actually a 3-phase AC motor. The idea is that you can think of the motor and motor controller (often called an inverter) together as a DC motor because

I think another big part of it is that DC switches tend to get expensive above 12V. Cheap AC switches work fine at higher voltage, because the arc is self-extinguishing as it passes through zero twice per cycle, but DC doesn't do that

The terminology is kind of confusing, but usually the thing called a "charger" is the part that converts AC to DC at whatever voltage the pack requires. For level 1 and 2 charging, the charger is in the car. J1772 ports are basic

I was aware that internal combustion cars catch fire more often. There's a bit of a compensatory difference in severity: EVs don't catch fire as often, but it's especially bad when they do. But hopefully we can quickly move
