I think it's fine to assume that "I wonder how we can get this group of people to interact more with this other group people" is the sort of problem that most reasonably thoughtful people have thought about at some point in their lives. Regardless of whether you think diversity is desirable all the time in all circumstances, I think there are definitely times where certain kinds of diversity are lacking, and it's clearly a bad thing.
