Nifty! Fun to pull up the module for ELF and have it be so easy to read. Some day I want to write an RTOS in Nim. I enjoy writing embedded programs in Nim and it’d be fun to make an RTOS.

Both reactions make sense to me. Too much AHR activation suppresses immune response leading to cancer proliferation due immune cells not culling cancerous cells, but too little leads to auto-immune conditions. It's definitely like a la

You’re not wrong. It appears to be a very garbled technical explanation. Mainly that organisms need to absorb low frequency/energy light while reflecting higher frequency/energy light. I’m guessing that chemically that’s harder to

Alas, virtual particles appear to travel FTL, communication isn't possible with them: > Therefore, this does not imply the possibility of superluminal information transmission.

Sometimes I daydream about what would happen if FTL communications were possible, but only over short millimeters. It’d seem useless right? Until someone figured out how to put it in chips! Faster processing and memory. Also there would be

I’m a fan of Americas federal system because of the dual level. The federal level helps ensure a certain level of protection from local corruption or ineptitude while the state level prevents the federal level from too much easy power. Well

Great write up! I worked for a few months at a Google datacenter and a few times got to see the fiber endpoints. Though the idea of such networks not being sold on the market makes be ponder if starlink will come to provide such a service.

There was a study a while back which I recall finding that the more equal the society the less likely women were to pursue STEM careers. The places you listed had higher rates of women in STEM fields.

HN’s ranking algorithm penalizes potential flamebait stories as I understand it. If you watch, you’ll see stories with more comments than points will quickly fall off the front page.

I miss doing “random” renormalizations in physics problems. Though probably best we can’t renormalize the universes QM OS itself. ;)

Same thought. It’s a bit of a bait and switch as the title implied to me a major milestone. But it’s not and the real milestone of renewables providing power continuously day and night remains.

Seems Musk always had a desire to use "X" from his pre-Paypal days. He made a boastful post about buying Twitter, didn't actually want to follow through but was forced to do it by the courts. My take is that Musk then sorta w

IIRC from what I've read about queue theory, it's not that having two staff halves the time, but that it can be multiple factors faster. Though I haven't read this particular paper yet.

Nim is also great on embedded devices, both Linux, RTOS, and barebone! Though ML on embedded would require the "Lazer" pure Nim backend the author has been working on. Well unless you can compile Blas for the embedded device.

How is requiring age verification for porn different than age verification for cigarettes and alcohol that every state has? Pornography has well researched addictive and other negative properties, especially for youth.
