There are gps trackers for dogs (I mention these because they are extremely available) that use cellular data. They track much better, faster, more accurate. If I wanted to track someone to the point that I’d disable an AirTag speaker, I’d

In this extremely specific case where people are planting airtags to track you, you can simply disable the feature as the parent mentions.

I wonder if all the gender variants / skin tones etc gets put into much use in real world? I mean yeah, having them is a good idea but they don't seem to be easy to use on emoji keyboards. Do people care enough to choose the corre

WSL2 has its own filesystem (ext4 and everything). Accessing it is fast, accessing windows filesystem from wsl and vice versa is still slow. This is a big deal because, say you wanted to use intellij idea on wsl, using it on windows side an

Only issue I have is that dotnet does not support m1. The beta of version 6 does but I had several issues with it and dotnet 5 runs slow as hell on rosetta. Otherwise everything works just fine.

Yeah I tried this but I used 1x ui scaling + 1.5x font scaling. It works but then all the buttons and stuff are tiny. Maybe I should try 2x gui scaling and 0.75 font size? Never occured to me that I could go below 1 on the scales, it might

Nope, you people are living in a fairy tale. I’d love to have a decent linux desktop installation. I spent hours yesterday and gave up. I have a laptop running Ubuntu and connected to my 4k monitor in front of me. Has an Intel gpu. I do not

This is the exact point the parent post makes. You have to google what the hell is a bare git repository. It is not intuitive or clearly documented.

Oh that’s neat. Do you use the x server for just this purpose or do you also run linux gui apps? I’ve been thinking about investing more into it but the high dpi stuff does not work properly.

I’m Turkish and I find it interesting that the US and European cities are dealing with mouse / rat issues. We have tons of cats roaming the streets. I guess that’s the reason but I have ever seen one or maybe 2 live rats in my entire l

Yeah, at later stages they mention the increasing demand for "premium" pet food, which likely contains better meat cuts. I don't think it still would be a huge deal but my gut is known to be an unreliable source and the artic

One benefit of function based defer is that you can use anonymous functions to create hacky block-based defers. If the language only has block based defers then that's it. You have that and only that. What if I create a resource in an

How is TOML bad as a config language? I would not transmit data in TOML but is makes a lot of sense as a config language.

I find the channels to be the most confusing thing in Go. What happens when you write to a closed channel? What about a blocked one? What if you read from a closed one. Can you close a closed channel? Does that panic? What was the non block

I generally don't do an apt update before installing a package that I needed at that moment. However I do full update / upgrades when it is convenient for me. That's the point.
