Our district has a new policy this year for primary school: no project work at home (This was historically a HUGE time sync), and no at-home writing assignments. Typically, this means homework is whatever math the kids didn't finish i

How do you handle the family logistics that facilitate going to bed by 8pm?

I think arguing isn't worth the effort. The fact is, it's easier for the state to set start times later than it is for millions of parents to get their kids to bed on time (for all sorts of reasons).

Look, when I was in high school we had our first period starting at 7:07am, and the school overall was released at 2:15pm. Plenty of kids, myself included, performed just fine. But, that doesn't mean it's physiologically optimal

I mean yes, but you don't even need to make that leap. Just look at outwear, shoes, and clothing accessories. fwiw, I'm also a big fan of uniforms and the uniform separates can typically be purchased at places like Old Navy or Ta

Starting salaries in North Carolina -- in 2019 -- are $35,000 for first year teachers. The top end is $58k. It's embarrassing. http://www.ncpublicschools.org/docs/fbs/finance/salary/sched...

fwiw, Google at least has policies around how to handle PII in support tickets, as well as how to handle PII in bugs reported against public-facing-ish software (like Chrome). That's not to say there can't be bad actors or lapses

The models in isolation aren't useful. The knowledge to create models like them is where the value lies, but it's only possible to generate value if you can do this in a way that is broadly applicable... which is where building

I disagree. Well, I agree, but with nuance. A promotion for a knowledge worker role is typically a recognition of already having been operating at a higher level than the employee is currently mapped to. This is not the same as promoti

No. It's rare for players to transfer up. In fact, the ones that do transfer are usually the ones who do have professional prospects but aren't currently projected as lottery pics (and some who are, like Jalen Hurts transferri

I don't think that's necessarily true. It's true for the Big 5 "Power" conferences because they negotiate enormous media contracts, but if you're a mid-major school in a 2nd or 3rd tier city, and especially if

I have a Garmin 5 Plus. The battery lasts 5-6 days with normal use and always-on screen and 24x7 wear. I charge it in the car during my commute on Fridays.

Yes it is. Companies set salary ranges based on cost of labor in given markets. They do this by grouping job codes into job families. The job families are what's benchmarked. It's entirely possible for there to be a broad rang

Sure, but good luck easily getting to Golden Gate Park if you're, say, coming from Mission Bay. And if you can afford to live in the hillier parts of town the odds are good you probably have decent (albeit small) neighborhood parks.

There is an alternative. Don't live in a big city! There are plenty of 2nd & 3rd tier cities where you can get both a house and land for a reasonable price and still have good schools and a vibrant cultural environment. Of cours
