What I don't see covered is the following problems: 1. Do people have to buy points from miners? 2. What prevents someone from buying lots of points to promote their content?

I doubt that without military those inventions, especially the internet wouldn't have been created. Especially if the humongous funding of the military would be completely used for research. In fact we might have seen even more amazing

A lot of defensive talking around technical terms, mixed with a bunch of typos and topped off with unfair attacks. Not very classy. And the point of Aphyr still stands I think. In default mode it is easy to get corrupt data with Galera Clus

Yes, unless your towers are that far away from each other that the distance would be considered a "large geographical distance" making it a WAN (Wide Area Network).

Maybe that's because it stands for Local Area Network? WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) are not long distance networks so it's a correct term. A WiFi network is a WLAN but not all WLANs are WiFi networks. WiFi is a trademark use

Yea I think I got the idea of Consul being more stable because of the jepsen results and some other project running into problems with the raft library that etcd used back then. If they rewrote that library and CockroachDB (whos engineers I

Does anyone at this point have a good comparison between etcd and Consul? The v3 API of ectd seems more powerful because it supports multi-key transactions but isn't there yet. Other than that I always had a slight feeling that Consul

I don't agree with publishing the private certs but if anything ever ought to be open source, then it's a public voting system. If we can't have complete transparency and confidence in voting systems we might as well just giv

Thanks for the offer but it worked after deleting the favorite and restarting the app. Quick feedback: - I can't find a way to see indexes or functions, only the basic table structure in terms of columns. - The results tables seem to m

Thanks for downvoting for disagreeing. But that's not it's supposed to work on HN. You must have a sad life when friendship means nothing. But each to their own.

That's something I don't get. Why should intelligence agencies be expected/allowed to spy on allies and friendly nations? What does it tell you about that "friendship"?

Would be interesting to see a comparison to Druid: http://druid.io/ They both seem to cater the same use case: scalable real-time analytics.

Thanks for the answer, I appreciate all the hard work that is being done on the project. So since you guys started working on the structured data layer, does that mean CockroachDB is going into Beta? I can't wait to get my hands on a t

So please lay out your definition of stealing and explain why it would apply to this case. "take (another person's property) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it." No property is taken.

It's not stealing because nothing is stolen. Or what is your definition of stealing?

That's pretty bad. I think the reason why people are so upset/surprised is because they expect better from the Go team. Sometimes it really feels like they take the lazy route without putting enough thought and polish into things.

Additionally there are a bunch of other things very wrong with the exploit code. If the connect() fails, it will use file descriptor 1 which is usually stdout and write the request to it and try to read from it. And there is a problem with

You two seem to not understand still, please re-read my comment. The point is this is allowing code execution within the kernel of windows. It doesn't even reach the IIS userland process.
