Yes, this is static typing. I wonder though if you have the option of adding type annotations?

This looks a bit like rust with garbage collection. I see it says it has a type checker or inference from OCaml. I’m guessing this means it doesn’t natively support higher kinded types. Don’t get me wrong - I love new languages and I commen

If I read your comment correctly, whether or not the lockdowns are legal should Not have anything to do with health. So what you are saying is that you don’t care if it’s a health risk - nobody should ever be able to order you to stay in yo

I love that this is blurring the lines about what the idea of a game is. I bet a lot of people will hate this game and a lot of people will love it (and a lot will just be like huh?). One thing for sure is that it looks interesting.

So this was deployed in 2014 and we’re just connecting all the dots now? It really makes you wonder what’s being deployed at the moment. The fact that they can determine all this from some binary is amazing. Security researchers really are

I like the analogy and agree with you but the potential for abuse of cough syrup is for the user, not the manufacturer. Maybe another analogy would be like if you had to give your full banking information to every restaurant your family din

I’ve been wondering why we don’t have these on top of our street lights. I imagine a street light with a Darrieus vawt on the pole under the light and a small solar panel on top.

I think this is just one way in which many politicians are the same. This does not mean that they share all the same concerns or have the same plans for the country.

I actually didn’t mind the stellar/Keybase deal and thought it was a pretty cool value addition. I don’t know if this holds for signal but at least on Keybase you’re not _required_ to purchase coins. You only use them if you want. Also

I agree that’s not irony, and cities will often have the highest disparity simply by having more people.

It sounds like you’re claiming that the US just has more criminals per capita. There’s a reason we have so many violent gangs in the US. We don’t take care of people the way other countries do, and we take advantage of every marginalized po

I don’t think so - you can only use static functions to declare static variables. But you could do it with a macro. It’s debatable whether that would be readable and predictable, though.

People who enjoy Go will probably tell you that Rust is already one of those complicated languages. Personally I don’t agree, I think Rust is right in the middle, but that’s because to the left of Rust is Idris, Agda, Coq, Ada and Prolog. M

The article takes the approach of gluing together disparate solutions to write a language. With a functional language as your base, writing a new language can be quite elegant and fun! A great series by Stephen Diehl http://dev.s

It depends - at my work we use buildkite which is a “bring your own runners” build service, so caching is available by default, so long as the cache is outside of the project directory. For personal stuff I use GitHub and Gitlab - they both

Anecdotally I can tell you it does not amount to a loss in productivity. Cargo caches built deps so the cost is really only paid once in a while and the advantages of rusts type system are a boon to productivity.
