There’s a lot happening at compile time that less safe languages don’t do. Type checking and type erasure, etc

You’re right, though after an initial compilation cargo does a good job caching and subsequent builds will often beat Go’s compile times.

But cargo caches well, and after that first compile subsequent compilations will take mere seconds.

“Apps” is a pretty vague description of an application, but if you’re writing a server it’s just as easy to “just throw” the app on lambda as it is on EC2. In general I ask myself if my new server can run on a lambda and if it can’t then I

Speed and parallelism are good features but the killer app of serverless is the cost savings. You only pay for the time your function is running. Traditional server applications can be rewritten “serverless” so long as your pipeline is pret

Both points are true, but the author is talking about writing new software specifically for serverless compute.

Not fully static by default, it links dynamically against glibc. If you want a fully static bin you can compile with musl.

Sadly it’s expected here. We all know PoC are sorely underrepresented in tech. We are a reflection of the problem at hand - the result of years and years of systemic racism and sexism.

I created srcoftruth.com for this reason, but it's a hobby project - and I'm currently rebuilding it.

You’re reducing two type variables down to one. The number of type variables matter. The kind of the type matters. Look at the definition of Monad for Either. You’ll see.

Agreed. The concepts are very useful and applicable elsewhere.

It does in that it has two type variables. In Haskell Either is not a monad - (Either a) is.

B12 deficiency happens even when you eat meat. Humans used to get B12 from bacteria in the dirt that accompanied much of the food we ate. Eating meat these days doesn’t give you enough B12 and has to be supplemented.

There’s the big China study you can use as a starting point. If you want a catchy movie check out game changers, it’s flashy but deals specifically with athletes.

The first and easiest thing we can each do, individually, is eat less meat (or better - no meat). My wife and I have been mostly vegan for a year for health reasons and it’s surprisingly easy. Throw on the eco benefit and it’s a very good f

This is why I wrote https://srcoftruth.com - it will find your todos and open, track and eventually close a ticket for each distinct todo in your repo. Works on GitHub repos and issues (private and public). Currently building JI

I used to want that too. Spacemacs has pretty good support out of the box if you’re willing to use stack. Vim w/ the haskell-vim-now collection is good too. But soon after you realize that all you need is any text editor and a terminal

I must be missing the point here because if you wanted to “write ... Haskell using only the IO monad and modules of functions” you could simply write your modules (Haskell supports modules) and then write your IO. Done. Is that what you mea

It’s funny that the parent poster mentions this - it’s likely that either the cyclist has a car, payed in the same manner as the driver and is in the moment using the road for “leisure or sport” - or the cyclist really needs to use the road
