Yes, I think I am too. I can see the need for a single page apps for really immersive applications like games or possibly for very small targeted applications like reading mail, or showing stats, but in the case of the latter you probably w

They mark the private variables so you don't have to remember which ones are private when you read further down the page. That's pretty common place and good style, IMO. What makes you think they're anachronistic?

Seems like they included extra parameters in map since they forgot to include a fold! Running totals are perfect for fold, for differences, use zipWith. But, JavaScript is rather functional. I've heard it described as "lisp in C's clothing"

Can someone explain to me how young earth creationists can even exist at high levels in our government? It just seems so embarrassing. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.

Yes! That's a great introduction, but you must have a sense of humor. I love that book.

I found the giveaway is in lowercase t, s, c and uppercase R. Helvetia tries to snap most terminating edges horizontally.

I think the only thing 'preventing a dictatorial government' is an educated and informed electorate. If we have that, we never have to revolt...

Are there guns that don't look frightening? It really just depends on what side of the gun you happen to be standing.

Or, what about using low power radio to communicate relatively short distances to other submersibles scattered upward toward the surface, forming a mesh network that eventually has an endpoint connected to the ship or satellite?

What about a fully autonomous submersible that surfaces periodically to get its bearings from GPS, upload data, recharge through solar, etc... It could be programmed with a certain number of goals and priorities and follow the goal with the

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant "I've never heard of that method, so I looked it up in Xcode and it turns out it is not a method on NSString (and why should it be if !isEqualToString: achieves the same purpose?) which lead

I don't think not using a prebuilt game engine is a mistake. It's a bigger challenge. It may be an issue of 'who came here to win' versus 'who came here to learn'. My game (The Moonening https://github.com/incorrectangle/game-off-2012 ) is

Ayn Rand sounds like a crap person to be around. Wet blanket maybe? I have better descriptions of such people but they would be inappropriate given my present company.

Isn't the average gamer a 30 year old male, fully capable of voting? In this case I think the "older crowd" are baby boomers. People born in the 70's and 80's grew up with video games, so I'm guessing they played/still play them/can identif

It could just be biased because you're asking about Clojure in a Haskell room. It may not be that haskellers have a low opinion of Clojure so much as they have a higher opinion of Haskell.

I read the quoted patent blurb and thought, "oh great, so now if I write 'A multi-user, elastic, on-demand, distributed relational database management system,' I have to deal with this dude suing me." I hope patents don't work like that...
