Perfect! Thank you for finding that! I skimmed their site but obviously not deep enough.

VLC is open source right? It would be nice if they put up the source for the iPad app so at least developers could make a build for themselves.

Why can't I read the text at the bottom? I can't seem to scroll down.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been searching (for years) for a good alternative to SuperCollider and thought Haskell would be great for DSP, but couldn't find a library ready to use. Now I get a lib and a book! :)

Thanks for explaining. I would have spent (too much time) figuring out that joke. It's funny, but not worth (too much time).

I would also like to see some proof that piracy is a huge problem. Files being available and free for download on the 'black market' does not mean that people who would pirate said files would otherwise pay for those files. It would be nice

I loved Blaster Master. Though it's only half platformer, and that half didn't seem to be the hard part...

Is professional modeling a professional setting? What if models were judged by their intelligence? Would that be inappropriate? ;P

That comic (and accompanying article) make a good point. It's easy to see how annoying (or scary) that would be. Though I would say the men depicted are total douche bags. I won't defend them. I will defend the guy who likes to say hi to yo

I probably don't understand the problem whatsoever. I try to understand the utter bullshit women have to go through. At least I'm trying. It is hard for me to understand, this problem. It seems like becoming so tired of being attractive tha

I'm certain the majority of HN believes OP's example to be sexist. I may also be sexist - I apologize. I also understand that things said in the workplace can be interpreted as reinforcing a sexist, though antiquated way of thinking - which

But what if you were a "handsome single man?" At least they're being accurate.

"Let's have X take the meeting notes, she's a woman." Definitely sounds sexist. "You are sexy." Does not sound sexist (to me). I think tech guys are afraid of sex. Now - "You are sexy" could be sexual harassment, I guess that really depends

I would be very complimented if an introducer said these things about me, replacing 'woman' with 'man'. Maybe I'm sexist - I think (those who are upset) are a little too uptight. It feels like (they) would like to take sexuality out of the

On the flip side, we might see a lot of "build your own NoSQL store" tutorials in 2012.

Yeah, I don't think that guy actually meant what he was saying, either because he had some alternative agenda or because he doesn't know what he's talking about. I want to know what the other forms of online piracy are. Technically with str

You can always jail break your iPad, which in America is legal, I think :)

What would be the point in a self-replicating wave of expansion? I don't see why that would make life more enjoyable. Unless that wave is used as a discovery machine - in that case it's a scientific tool, and as scientists we have rules abo

Are you implying that researchers want to take control of your autonomous vehicle on behalf of the government or some overreaching corporation? The marker/URL scheme is just a solution to the problem of delivering instructions when needed,
