I agree with you that we should all cast a wider net WRT the charities we pick, but I'll play devils advocate because that's what I do. There are too many worthy issues. An organization like ycombinator or like its investments (Ai

I think being intolerant of intolerance is fine - and don't recurse any further into that statement ;)

Use a quadtree or similar structure for your broadphase detection, it will help right off the bat.

Examples would help in that case, but there would still be much confusion simply from not understanding Monads (enough to write a computation in that one).

That attitude is not representative of the community. Some people would like more documentation and some are content, but either way it's still Haskell and the types get you very close to full understanding.

You guys have the advantage of being able to work. Your minds and bodies are healthy. Man up and take care of those less fortunate, even if it means a minority game the system.

It desugars that way beacause of the nested structure of monadic sequencing, not because of threads or IO. We can distill the real argument down to "JavaScript must use nested callbacks for async. Haskell doesn't."

I write Haskell for a living and that's never been the approach I've taken. For me writing Haskell is like a conversation with the compiler, you write a bit, you listen a bit - back and forth - unless you're refactoring you d

Starting with a large chunk of code that doesn't compile is pretty weird. I don't know why you'd ever have this naturally.

I would say so if he's a YC advisor. He doesn't have to justify his actions but it would be interesting to understand or at least try to understand his point of view. My guess is it has to do with taxes.

Those qualities aren't universal in people and as such what you are describing is more of a study of culture than musical theory. You would probably enjoy a music appreciation course, and possibly one taught by a philosophical professo

I may be naive but I do have some experience with isometric games and my solution was to set the index origin of each box as the top back corner (the top of the hexagon if flattened), and then order bottom-to-top, back-to-front. Then draw i

It lets you search by type signature. If you know the inputs and output then you know the type signature. So in short, yes. Edit, example: https://www.haskell.org/hoogle/?hoogle=Char+-%3E+Char

A while back someone posted some programming guidelines issued by nasa. It detailed requiring assert statements at least every 10 loc. It spoke of many of other things as well, but that was one that stuck in my head.

This is a great move on his part - every programmer should know as many languages as they feasibly can. Being a monolingual programmer is like being a carpenter who only uses hammers. Or maybe a better analogy would be an investor who only

It's not that they're incorrect - they are opinion disguised as fact. The points about lacking an unsorted map are really the only substantial argument, but only if your use case absolutely needs an unsorted map. I've never s
