Oh very timely as I was just having this discussion with a friend recently. With this article and articles like it, the author has an implicit bias toward “less is more” and “low level control is preferable”. Yes in the unrealistic case tha

I've been hearing people take sides in the GNOME vs POP_OS "debate" and have seen mentioned of what happened to Linus - and until reading this I had no idea what was going on. I will say that as much as I like twitter, the bi

This is a great explanation, thank you. (I've never worked at google, and maybe this isn't a problem anymore however) It seems like the "solution" here would be to do for Infra what Go did for Concurrency - build an abst

I’d pay for this if it could run locally. Not sure what it would take to be sustainable but solving this problem is worth at least $20/month to me.

I bought a Tesla recently and the biggest selling point to me is that (in theory, it’s yet to be proven for me) you can enable features after purchase. It bothers me that for example BMW literally won’t let you upgrade the head unit to get

I upvoted you, but I heavily disagree with you. Working with people you don't know, don't trust and/or don't like is hard. This hardship can be alleviated by "relationship building" You can also cut down a tree

The BEAM VM is fantastic but the scope of Kubernetes + docker is completely different. For example you still need a way to get BEAM onto hosts, still need to manage the OS on the host, still need to setup networking, RBAC etc.
